My background is in Biotechnology, with a specialization in Human Health and Diseases. Early in my academic journey, I developed a strong interest in molecular biology and the molecular mechanisms underlying disease. During my PhD under supervision of Prof. Roepman, I applied systems biology approaches to study ciliopathies, focusing on proteomics and functional genomic screening to better understand ciliary biology in human health and disease. I later continued with postdoctoral research in Dr. Schmidtβs group on kidney development, using RNA sequencing to investigate gene expression changes involved in kidney hypoplasia.
After academia, I joined a gene therapy company, where I broadened my experience in drug development processes, data management, and working within a young biotech environment alongside my scientific research activities.
Alongside my biomedical research experience, I developed a growing interest in data science and computational biology. To strengthen these skills, I completed a data analytics bootcamp focused on Python, SQL, data visualization, machine learning, and predictive modeling. I enjoy combining biological knowledge with data-driven approaches to solve complex problems in biology and healthcare.
Personal touch
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, knitting, walking, and continuously learning new skills in data science and biomedical image analysis.
