I studied Biotechnology at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. During the last year I did an internship for 9 months at the Dutch Cancer Institute, Amsterdam. After a few diverse jobs as research technician, Leiden University Medical Center (2 years), Dutch Cancer Institute, Amsterdam (6,5 years) and Numico Research (now Danone Nutricia Research; 4 years), I started working in the Radboud University Medical Centre in September 2003 as coordinating/research technician. I combined scientific research with project management, quality assurance (CCKL guideline), advisor HES (health, environment and safety issues) and GMO (genetically modified organisms). In 2010, I started as dedicated project manager for the European FP7 Health large scale integrating project “SYSCILIA” coordinated by Prof. Ronald Roepman and have since then been responsible for the management of research consortia funded by the European Commission, as well as national and international research programs.
Currently I’m the project manager for the Horizon Europe Doctoral Network “ProgRet”: the European Training Program to Understand, Diagnose and Treat Autosomal Dominant Retinal Diseases (Jan 2024 – Dec 2027) coordinated by Prof. Elfride De Baere, University of Ghent; the H2020 MSCA-ITN “SCilS”: Studying Ciliary Signaling in development and disease (Jan 2020 - June 2024) coordinated by Prof. Ronald Roepman; the Foundation Fighting Blindness Program Project Award: “Mechanism and therapy for RP17: coordinated by Prof. Alison Hardcastle, UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, London (Jan 2023- Dec 2027); and Orphanet with Prof. Wendy van Zelst as national coordinator.

Personal touch

In my spare time I like to explore new walking/hiking trails (especially while traveling), cooking (and eating), reading, doing (jig) puzzles, or taking a tour in our Triumph TR3 car.
